How does Red Light Therapy Work?

Red light therapy is used in conjunction with invisible Infrared light for skin rejuvenation and more. LIGHTWAVE therapy is also used for acne scar reduction by combing Red light therapy with Blue light therapy (which can also be used to activate photodynamic therapy, or phototherapy).

Essentially what Red light therapy does – in combination with Infrared light – is stimulate the skin so as to promote skin rejuvenation for:

  • Anti aging

  • Sun spots

  • Flaccid skin

  • Acne scar reduction

Red light energy has a significant effect on mitochondrial stimulation, which increases the production of ATP and in turn boosts fibroblast activity. This leads to an increase in cellular turnover, superficial circulation, and an anti-inflammatory emission.

Blue light therapy and Red light therapy alone can be used to target acne and acne scars. However, when Blue light therapy and red light therapy are used in conjunction with each other; they are much more effective at targeting inflammatory acne.
